Peter Finnie
Managing Partner at Gill Jennings & Every LLP
So, you've had a great idea or invented a new product, and want to start and scale a business to commercialise it. Your research and interactions with investors tell you that having a patent is important. However, you've never filed a patent application before and you suspect it will be expensive.
Hopefully, and before you go off telling all your friends about your idea, you will end up in front of a patent attorney who can advise you on the patentability of your invention. Part of that initial advice should cover the question of if and when to file a patent application – which is not as straightforward as it might seem. This workshop will cover some of the factors that influence the answer to this question, and the inherent tensions they can create e.g. confidentiality agreements, the cost of securing investment and the question of 'ownership'.
All members are welcome to book through the app and attend this RocketSpace Member Workshop in The Classroom (B1) just to the right of the Landing in the Basement Surf Zone (select -2 on the lift, or take the stairs).
